What's Next?! AN UPDATE
Hey everybody!
So there is a LOT to catch up on!
Thank you for stopping by to read this update - I really appreciate it. I also understand that we don't make it exceptionally easy to follow the band at times, so we appreciate your dedication. We're good at writing songs and rocking out ... We're not always good at keeping in touch.
So, at some point in 2009, I let you all know that the musicians in Hello Kelly all felt led to quit the band and move onto other things. I also told you that I wasn't going anywhere ... and here we are, Hello Kelly lives on. There have been rumours of Hello Kelly breaking up but the technical answer for those rumours is a solid NO.
In March, we toured with ToTell on the INTENSITY IN 10 CITIES TOUR and it was a huge success. Please don't forget to visit http://intensityintencities.ca to download a bunch of free new music - and tell all your friends about it too. It's our gift to you!
On the tour, I was joined on stage by 3 of my new best friends. Travis Wilbourn, from Atlanta, Georgia on Lead Guitar. Ben Mahaffey, from Eerie, Pennsylvania, on Drums. And George Wong from Calgary, Alberta, on Bass. Whether or not these guys wind up sticking around remains to be seen ... But we all had a blast and things are looking good. We'll announce that officially soon one way or the other.
On the tour, we played a BUNCH of new material - and we were so happy that you all responded so positively. Gosh. The new song BETTER NOW TOGETHER is on our MySpace (http://myspace.com/hellokelly) and you need to go listen to it. We'll be releasing more new songs as soon as we can - and we'll be announcing a release date for our new record EASY FOR YOU TO SAY as soon as we know what it is.
The next step for Hello Kelly? Well, we're going to be working on some of the more boring stuff. We want to build a good team around Hello Kelly to help us reach more people. We don't want to sell out, but we DO want to team up with some good friends. We'll let you know how that goes.
We'll be making more tour announcements in the next couple weeks too - so pretty much just keep your eyes peeled, OK?

Comic Time! Eps. 005 & 006
Being on the road in a band is hard sometimes; especially when it comes to food. It seems like meal time is always "feast or famine," because sometimes there's lots of food but a lot of the time there's hardly any. Luckily, people tend to understand this and help out whenever possible.
The first comic is about having breakfast at Francy's dad's house: a real meal or waffles and sausage and bacon.. Mmmm... My mouth is watering just thinking about it.
The second comic is about when we're fending for ourselves and trying to cook meals for the whole band. Quick and cheap is usually the order of the day so you find shortcuts. Our favorite shortcut is Red Robin seasoning, which we sprinkle liberally on everything, usually with pretty good results! Enjoy the comics!

New Record's title: EASY FOR YOU TO SAY
NEW RECORD'S TITLE: "Easy for You to Say"
The new Hello Kelly record is going to be called "Easy for You to Say".
I know it sounds a little weird - let me explain: None of these songs were easy to write – I practically smeared the secrets of my heart all across the pages. But I’m glad I did it. These songs are real & authentic.
This record is poised to be harder, faster & more sincere, and I'm really excited for you guys to hear it. I write about things that I never thought I would write about ... which brings me to my next point ...
The other reason I chose 'Easy for You to Say' is because, for the first time, I'm really comfortable talking and singing about the stutter that I struggle with. I want you guys to know that you can overcome whatever hurdles are holding you back in your own lives - just like I'm fighting daily against mine. And that's the biggest reason why I'm so excited about sharing this new record with you!

Please HELP Hello Kelly
Hello people of Earth!
I want to sincerely thank everybody who has been gracious enough to donate a bit of money to the HELP HELLO KELLY campaign we’ve got going on.
Before I say anymore about the HELP HELLO KELLY thing, I want to first highlight the situation in Haiti. Since the unbelievable devastation there, so much has been done globally to help, support and relieve the people there. I think we’ve all been inspired at how so many people worldwide have united to extend a hand of care. That being said, there is still so much work to do. One of the best and easiest ways for us to contribute is to give money. There are tons of organizations set up to help in different ways, and you can check out a list of those organizations HERE.
I’m going to keep talking about HELP HELLO KELLY now, but PLEASE, before you send any money our way, make sure you’ve searched your heart to see if you feel moved to donate to the people in Haiti OR to any other charitable organization. I realize that, at the end of the day, Hello Kelly is just a rock & roll band and, compared to other causes, it probably needs your money least of all!
That being said, if you’ve been a supporter or fan of Hello Kelly for a while, you know that we make music for YOU GUYS. We tour for YOU GUYS. It’s a ton of fun, but it’s definitely not always easy. That’s especially true these days. Hello Kelly has landed in some super tight financial water and, to put it bluntly, we need your help if we’re going to keep going!
We’ve recorded a new record and we’re absolutely sure that you guys are going to be just as excited about it as we are! It’s MORE in every sense of the word. The rock songs are more vicious. The ballads are more beautiful. The party songs are more fun!

A word about Haiti and Hello Kelly
My apologies go out to anyone who thought the latest Hello Kelly announcement and video were of poor taste. We should all obviously give to the Haiti initiatives FIRST & FOREMOST.
Hello Kelly has always done our very best to be transparent, respectful, respectable and humble. Our vision is to encourage, empower and challenge Kelly (our listeners) to sink their teeth into life ... To think about what they believe, to chase their dreams fervently and to stand up for those who aren't able to stand up for themselves.
If you've been a fan or supporter of the band for a while, you hopefully know that our intention was not to push the tragedy in Haiti out of anybody's consciousness'. It's important that we dwell there and feel their pain and mourn with them, and again, help however we can. That's what I think, anyway.
Hello Kelly has an empty bank account, so we're searching for other ways that we can do our part. In the meantime, Hello Kelly definitely encourages everybody to also do whatever YOU can. If it's giving money, then please give money!
The reason I asked fans and friends to support Hello Kelly financially is simply because if we don't get help within the next month, it's likely that Hello Kelly might have to look at disbanding. I know that, in the big picture, having one less rock band in the world isn't going to hurt anybody. And if it's God's timing for something like this to happen, then that's what needs to happen.
But we made the video because we want to continue helping people. If you feel called to help Hello Kelly financially, PLEASE, only help Hello Kelly after you've supported whatever Haiti initiatives speak to you. I had hoped that this would go without saying, but please forgive me for not being more clear in the original announcement.

There's not a lot of money going around these days, and it's true, Hello Kelly really IS feeling the pinch. There are still expenses to be paid for this record and it all takes money - money that we simply don't have right now.
So yes, Hello Kelly nation, we do - seriously and legitimately - need your help!
If our music has ever helped you in some way, or even if you just love the tunes - believe me when I say that I'm begging you to consider donating some money. Usually, it would feel very awkward asking you for something like this - but I know that you guys are very understanding and supportive. When we fell into really tough times and realized we needed a financial miracle, it made all the sense in the world to come to YOU.
The money that you would give won't buy us sneakers or cheeseburgers. So don't worry.

INTENSITY IN 10 CITIES TOUR
TOUR ANNOUNCEMENT!
In March 2010, we're going to be headlining the INTENSITY IN 10 CITIES TOUR.
The tour will feature 10 exclusive dates across Ontario. Also featured on the tour will be long time buddies of Hello Kelly, To Tell!
The idea behind this tour is to do everything we can to pump up the Ontario music scene! When we first started playing in 2004, there were shows happening nearly every weekend. Bands had no problem staying busy - even sharing shows with other bands! These days, it's become much more of a competition and the scene has deteriorated ... it's so very "dog eat dog" out there!
And that's just not the way a music scene should be! Especially considering how kinetic it USED to be!
So let's break it down. What so special about this tour?
Well, it's going to be the FIRST time Hello Kelly will be showing it's face in Ontario since August 2009. We'll be promoting our new record and playing TONS of new material. We'll have a brand spanking new show, new merch and selling pre-sales of our new record. I REALLY miss playing shows in my home province and I REALLY want to hang out with all of you guys - so PLEASE ... tell everybody about this tour! We're playing 10 shows across Ontario, so there will definitely be one close to you! We'll be announcing the DATES shortly!
What ELSE is so great about this tour?
At every one of the 10 shows on this tour, there will be a different opening band. All of these opening bands are based in Ontario cities and trying to make a name for themselves. What does this mean for you? It means that, when you come to see Hello Kelly this March, you'll also be exposed to new music that you maybe didn't even know existed!
What else?
Every person who comes to ANY show on this tour will be given a FREE download of the INTENSITY 2010 sampler. What's the INTENSITY 2010 sampler? It's a compilation of 10+ FREE tracks from Ontario bands. This will include Hello Kelly and ToTell sure, but also tons of other Ontario bands - bands you might not yet know about! Bands that you may very much WANT to know about!
The great thing about this sampler is that fans in Western Ontario will be exposed to bands in Eastern Ontario. And fans in Northern Ontario will be exposed to bands in Southern Ontario. Not to mention Promoters and Venues!
Imagine if, after this tour is over and done with, every band on this tour played the same 10 venues on their OWN tours over the course of 2010! You'd have a lot of shows to go to, wouldn't you!?
As you've probably gathered, the whole point of this tour is to revitalize the music scene in Ontario as much as we can. We want bands to be helping other bands. We want promoters to take risks and put on shows. We want you guys - the fans - to get excited about going to shows again!
We'll be announcing a list of DATES very soon, along with what opening band will be featured at each show.
Remember - you guys are the biggest influence on the music scene around you. If you don't go to shows, nothing can grow. On the other hand, if you guys support your scene and the bands you love, then they'll have a bigger shot at being able to pay the bills, stay on the road, and keep feeding you with new music!
